Caedmon has over twenty years experience in mining investment and finance, mineral exploration and equity capital markets. Caedmon commenced his career as a buy-side mining analyst and was the first analyst to work with Ian Henderson on the JPMorgan Natural Resources Fund (OEIC/SICAV/UCITS fund) as the fund grew to over USD1.5Bn during the early-mid 2000’s. He subsequently moved into hedge funds as an energy and mining analyst at Och-Ziff Capital, managing approximately USD 800m long-short as part of a two-man team, before joining GLG Partners as a mining, steel, chemicals and paper analyst in a four-man team managing approximately EUR1Bn long-short. At GLG he launched the GLG Global Mining Fund (long-short hedge fund) as the Fund Analyst alongside Fund Manager Tim Medland.
Relocating to Australia in 2009, Caedmon worked on the sell-side in mining corporate finance and equity research with Ambrian Partners and GMP Securities, as well as an independent consultant in corporate finance, M&A valuation and corporate development for a number of junior mining company clients. This included technical screening and project appraisal and evaluation for over 260 projects for clients as well as financial modelling and independent valuation advice for M&A transactions. For the last seven years Caedmon has been the Managing Director of various ASX-listed exploration companies principally focused on nickel, gold and base metal exploration in Western Australia, including listing Western Mines Group (ASX:WMG), managing their globally significant Mulga Tank nickel sulphide discovery.
Caedmon graduated with MSci MA in Geology from the University of Cambridge and has obtained a PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Oxford. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds an Investment Management Certificate. Caedmon is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (MAIG) and the Society of Economic Geologist (MSEG).
